London 2012 Paralympic Closing Ceremony, Flag Handover

London bade farewell to the London 2012 Paralympic Games with the spectacular and colorful flag handover closing ceremony at the Olympic Stadium in London as a tribute to Brazilian joyfulness, cultural diversity, and contagious energy with an invitation to the nations of the world to come to Rio in four years time.
Rio 2016's eight minute handover celebration included disabled and able-bodied artists and involved some of the great names of Brazilian music and dance. The show featured performances by artists such as Paralamas do Sucesso, Brazil's most popular rock band, Carlinhos Brown, one of the most creative and innovative artists in the Brazilian music scene and Thalma de Freitas, Brazilian actress, singer and songwriter, who joined the various dance groups on the Olympic Stadium stage.The theme of the Rio 2016 presentation was joy. The celebration was opened by a Funk do Passinho performance, a dance battle inspired by a cultural phenomenon taking over the Brazilian favelas, and a re-mix of American break-dance and Brazilian rhythms.
